First off, please note the times for the play and the musical: S&S is October 20-22, 2017. The spring musical will be mid-APRIL 2018.
I have posted portions of the script for you to look over and be familiar with at auditions. Look under Sense & Sensibility Information. There is no need to memorize for auditions. If you are interested in a part that is not listed, you should read for any of the characters, but we will consider you for the part with which you are most interested. The judges will try to award you with the role that best suits you based on your reading. With the reading we are looking for:
LOUDNESS (there should be no need for microphones at the Playhouse)
CLARITY (speaking clearly and enunciating)
BODY MOVEMENT and GESTURES (is your body and face telling us who you are and how you feel)
STAGE PRESENCE (are you interesting to watch, whether you have lines or not)
CHARACTER (are you trying to react and respond as the character)
Auditions are only for high school students and 7-8th grade girls for the part of Margaret. If you are interested in stage crew or other behind the scenes roles, please contact me. Any parents who would like to contribute by taking on a job, we have some slots to fill: tickets, simple concessions, one time cleaning, lighting, graphic design for possible posters/postcards/tshirts.
Auditions are August 2 from 2-4p at the Playhouse. Callbacks are Aug 3 from 10a-12p. For those who cannot make those times, we are also offering July 19 at 1p at the Playhouse. We will consider adding a third date knowing that families have summer plans.
There are roles of all sizes in this show! To understand the roles and story line, you may borrow a script to read and return. I can give you an idea if you want to ask me specifics. We may give actors more than one role.
